Racing Car Grease Gains Position

A very successful Midlands based racing car team recently instigated a friction reduction project to assess how they could reduce friction and drag to increase performance on the track.

A small reduction in friction / drag can save valuable seconds. Part of this project involved looking at lubrication and in particular the lubrication of wheel bearings.

They wanted to assess the impact of changing to a high performance synthetic grease.

Having assessed a number of wheel bearing greases, the racing team approached Kluber Lubrication, who after examining the application, put forward their low torque, high performance Asonic HQ 72-102 as a possible solution.

When filled with the Asonic HQ 72-102, the wheel bearings immediately rotated noticeably longer to standstill than with their previous, racing standard, grease. This showed that the Asonic HQ 72-102 was successfully reducing the internal friction within the bearing allowing it to rotate more freely.

By converting to Asonic HQ 72-102 the racing technicians had hoped to reduce their overall race times whilst at the same time improve the reliability of their wheel bearings.

By the end of the season the team manager quoted:-

.".The performance of all the cars moved forward and not only allowed us to have an extremely strong end to the season but also .. .. gave the team fresh impetus with ideas going forward. Kluber continue to be an important partner for us".
